Sustainable Thornbury is launching the EAT! Campaign: Extra Allotments for Thornbury. To support Thornbury Town Council’s work on meeting the demand for allotments in Thornbury, we need to gather evidence of demand. So, whether or not your name is on the Dagg’s Allotments waiting list, we want to hear from you. We will then report the figures to the Council. We can also keep you up-to-date on allotment provision progress and let you know how to get involved in the campaign.

The Thornbury Swing Band is going from strength to strength. We now have twelve musicians - 5 saxes, 2 trumpets, 3 trombones, bass and keyboard and will be making our first public appearance in September. We need a drummer and a rhythm guitarist to complete the line up. Ability to read music an advantage but not essential. This could be a great opportunity for someone. Please call Richard Gulliver 416979 for more information.
Bearded Tit Visits Oldbury
One of the rarest birds in Britain has been sighted at Oldbury Power Station.
The Bearded Tit was last seen in South Gloucestershire in 1981, but a group of keen eyed bird watchers spotted a male at one of Oldbury’s lagoons recently.
Bearded Tits live only in reedbeds and are normally exclusive to eastern and southern Britain.
New fish supplier in Thornbury area
Powells of Olveston has just relaunched as a combined butcher and fishmonger. The new owners have spent their first year working closely with local farmers and Cornish fishermen to ensure their meat and fish is ethically sourced, local whenever possible, and always traceable.
All meat is hung for maximum maturity and taste, and fish is line-caught from sustainable stocks using small day boats, which means it's in the shop within 24 hours of being caught.
