Thornbury Geology Group
We are a section of Thornbury Museum and meet on the third Thursday of each month at 7.30pm in the Chantry. We meet to exchange information about local and world wide geological topics and examine maps, rocks, minerals and fossils. No previous knowledge of geology is needed and beginners and experts alike are welcome. Contact 416882 for details or email below.

Jekka's Herb Farm Open Days
29th-31st August, Rose Cottage, Shellards Lane, Alveston

Jekka’s Herb Farm is an organic herb nursery which grows over 600 varieties of herbs, usually supplied by mail order. The Herb Farm holds 4 open days each year, when the public are welcome to browse and buy organically grown herbs and seeds.

There will be a talk on ‘Maintaining your Herbs: cutting back, splitting and Potting’ by award winning Jekka McVicar, and bargains to be had from the annual end-of-season plant sale.

Entry is usually free on the Friday, and £2 per person on Saturday and Sunday. Catalogue holders, members of the RHS, BBC Gardener’s World, West of England Herb Group and the Soil Association also receive free entry on all days for two people.

Dairy Farm Open Day - Guided Tours
11am-3pm, Tortworth Estate Dairy Farm, Tortworth Estate, Box Walk, Tortworth, Wotton-under-Edge

Guided tours every half hour (approx). Trailer rides to the dairy unit to see milking parlour, cows and calves. Learn about how your ‘pinta’ is produced. Parking at The Estate Shop, Tortworth. Directions: Signed to Damery off B4509, one mile from M5 Junction 14. Please bring suitable clothing / footwear (wellies!)
