It is affiliated to the National Pensioners' Convention, and liaises with Help the Aged and Age Concern. Membership is free.
It will meet regularly to share information about key issues that concern us all and work together to develop a constructive response.
It will strengthen the links between voluntary sector representatives and the groups they represent, provide a focus for consultations with statutory bodies, facilitate the two-way flow of information between the voluntary sector and the statutory sector, and provide an opportunity for voluntary sector organisations to meet, discuss, share expertise and decide on how to progress on key issues.
For more information, contact Gillian Graham on 01454 865205.
Function facilities also include a kitchen and bar which opens onto the garden. We have a small gazebo for hire - there is ample space in the garden for hiring in your own marquee. Car parking available.

Thomas Dagg gave the field to Thornbury in 1546, so we tend what must be some of the oldest allotments in the country.
There are 120 allotments, and the Association has over 100 members. It organises social events such as the Summer BBQ, the Autumn Talk, the Christmas Meal as well as distributing monthly newsletters, running the Allotment Shop and offering discounts to some local retailers.
Gillingstool Primary School has a large plot which offers all pupils the opportunity to grow and eat their own produce.
Membership costs just a couple of pounds a year, and brings many benefits. You don't need to be a plot holder to become a member. We have discounted seeds, competitive prices on gardening items, guest speakers and visits.
If you would like to become a member, or be added to the waiting list for a plot, click the website link below.

It supports a small band of volunteers who give their time in all winds and weathers to maintain, repair, erect and take down the lights display that Thornbury has enjoyed for countless years!
We believe this to be of the order of 700 man hours of effort. The electricity for those fittings, is provided and hence ‘donated’ by the individual businesses. When not in use the fittings are stored at a local premises free of charge. In the true sense, this is a community led and funded display.
The lights display is renowned both locally and further afield. It draws numerous visitors to the town over the festive period. Many Councils have to pay a commercial rate for the provision of their lights display. Thornbury’s comes for free!

We have a stall in library every Saturday from 10am to 12 noon. Members can make deposits there as small as 50p, and draw out their savings. People can also join the Club at the stall, and only members can save. It costs £1 for adults to join, and juniors under age 16 can join free.
The Savings Club is non profit-making, and is not owned by any commercial company. Savings are invested in Lloyds Bank. The Savings Club will normally pay a dividend to all members at the end of each year.
For more information, come to the stall or ring Bob Jeffery on 01454 413535.
Volunteering is the ideal way to gain work experience and make new friends. It allows you to try different things and improves self-confidence. In some cases in can lead to paid employment. Mostly though, it should be enjoyable and enriching, helping you to feel worthwhile whilst helping others lead a better quality of life.
Whatever your experience, interests or time available we will do our best to find you a satisfying, worthwhile and enjoyable volunteering opportunity. We look forward to hearing from you!
